1. General FAQs (11)

Meals are provided on specific tours. The Paradise Tour includes morning tea and lunch, while the LARC + Lunch Tour includes a picnic lunch.

Yes, the tours are family-friendly. However, on the full day Paradise Tour, children under 8 years old are not permitted to enter Bustard Head Lighthouse tower due to Australian Building Standards.​

Yes, dietary requirements can be catered for. Please inform the team at the time of booking

Efforts are made to accommodate guests with mobility and accessibility challenges. The LARC vessels have steps with a handrail, and seating arrangements can be adjusted. It’s advisable to contact the team in advance to discuss specific needs.​

LARC stands for “Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo,” originally used by the military and now repurposed for eco-tourism.​

1770 LARC! Tours offers unique amphibious adventures aboard iconic pink LARC vessels, exploring the pristine coastline, national parks, and historical sites around the Town of 1770 and Agnes Water in Queensland, Australia.

  • Cancellations with more than 48 hours’ notice incur a 10% fee.

  • Cancellations with 24 to 48 hours’ notice incur a 20% fee.

  • Cancellations or no-shows on the day of the tour are non-refundable.

If 1770 LARC! Tours cancels due to unforeseen circumstances, a full refund (less credit card fees) is provided.

It’s recommended to bring sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses), comfortable clothing, swimwear, a towel, refillable water bottle, bug spray and a camera.​

All tours depart from the 1770 Marina, located at 535 Captain Cook Drive, Seventeen Seventy, Queensland, Australia.​

Paradise Tour

The Paradise Tour is our full day tour that goes to Bustard Head lighthouse and includes sandboarding. One of the best way to spend a day out and about in Agnes Water & 1770.

4. Paradise Tour (12)

Yes, LARC guests can go inside the lighthouse tower and up to the balcony. Although only if you’re 8 years or older. For safety reasons, children under 8 cannot enter the lighthouse tower due to building regulations.

The Paradise Tour runs for around 7 hours, typically from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Exact times may vary depending on tides and conditions.

Yes! You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch prepared by the 1770 Marina Café, plus morning tea and billy tea brewed over an open fire. Dietary needs can be catered for with prior notice.

Absolutely! While it’s a highlight for many, sandboarding is optional. Guests can cheer others on, take photos, or simply enjoy the view.

No. Moderate fitness is helpful. You’ll climb stairs inside the lighthouse tower and walk through sandy terrain to the cemetery, all of which are optional. Sandboarding and beach activities are optional also.

Yes, however children under 8 years old cannot enter the lighthouse tower for safety reasons.​

The Paradise Tour is a full-day adventure exploring 27km of coastline, including visits to Bustard Head Lightstation, sandboarding on Middle Island, and opportunities to spot local wildlife.

A moderate level of fitness is beneficial, especially for activities like sandboarding and climbing the lighthouse tower stairs.​ However, those activities are not compulsory.

Expect sea eagles, kangaroos, dolphins, crabs, rays and an array of birdlife. Every trip is different, depending on the season and tide.

Short on time but big on adventure? Our Afternoon Cruise is a perfect taste of the LARC experience—ideal for families, first-timers, and those wanting to see the Town of 1770 from a fresh perspective.

2. Afternoon Cruise (8)

Most guests bring along their own water bottle. If necessary, you are welcome to bring snacks of your own, remembering there is limited space per person for bags/backpacks.

You’ll cruise through Round Hill Creek and 4WD along the edge of Eurimbula National Park, soaking in the scenery with fun, informative commentary from the skipper. Wildlife, marine life and migratory bird sightings are common!
